Kia ora e hoa mā,

Thanks to funding from Toi Foundation, our Climate Fresk trained facilitators are running a series of Ora Taiao Ora Tangata community workshops, to empower communities and organisations with sound understanding on the systemic issues of climate change and to take actions that matter most to you.

The first three interactive workshops are on:

3 Oct, 10 Oct and 17 Oct  (10:30am-1:30pm) in Ngāmotu New Plymouth

REGISTER via Humanitix for one of these workshops

How it works:

  • The workshop is based around a 42-card game. Each card represents an element, a cause, or a consequence of climate change.
  • In teams, guided by your facilitator, you are encouraged to find the cause-effect relationship between the different components of climate change. Collective intelligence will get you from one deck of cards to the next!
  • This step-by-step reconstruction provides the keys to understanding the complexity and developing an overview of climate change.

Agenda:

  • Introduction, 15 mins
  • Fresk Card Game, 1 1/2 hours
  • Debrief and Actions, 1 hour 15 mins

Climate Fresk is an excellent opportunity to understand the key elements of climate change and what you can do to be part of the solution. No previous climate knowledge needed. Recommended age 16+.

Bring a smartphone or laptop if you have one! Food and drinks provided.

Workshops run by Climate Justice Taranaki.

We are also more than happy to organise such workshops on request at different locations, as long as there are 5 to 14 participants, so get in touch.

Cast your VOTE wisely

If you have not yet voted, please learn about your candidates, know what they stand for, get behind progressive candidates, and cast your vote wisely.

Check out the informative posts on Ngāmotu Progressive and the returned questionnaires from candidates.

Remember voting closes on 11 October midday. It is recommended that you visit a polling place early or post back your voting papers by Friday 7 Oct 5pm to guarantee delivery before voting closes.

Make sure you tick YES to keeping Māori ward in the poll. It is a basic act to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and enable fair representation so that tangata whenua have a voice in local decisions.

Fridays for Future pickets Taranaki

BP and Caltex (Chevron) have used Israeli’s invasion of Gaza to gain access to oil and gas resources located off the coast of Gaza. As such they are complicit in, and profiting from, the genocidal war against the people of Gaza.

Last Friday, some of us, together with Palestinian Solidarity Taranaki, stood outside BP to draw attention to this and to call for an end to fossil fuel exploration. Drivers who passed us were vastly supportive. Online however we received a series of hate posts which we deleted. It is crucial that we remain peaceful and non-violent in all circumstances. Take care of one another while we spread peace and love.
